Parish Council Elections Cancelled

The Parish Council Elections due to take place in May have been postponed because all local elections have been postponed for a year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Elections will now take place in 2021. This news came after our meeting.

The postponement means that the Parish Council, along with other councils in Northants, will have gone six years without elections. This unprecedented periods is because last year’s elections were cancelled due to the reorganisation of all Northants councils. The May elections would have been for both your parish council and the ‘shadow’ council preparing for the 2021 launch of the new unitary West Northamptonshire Council. This postponement raises questions as to whether the April 2021 start date for the new council will also be delayed.

Those of you interested in standing for the Parish Council will have to wait another year although we have a single vacancy and could co-opt a volunteer.
